Weather and AQI Data Sources & Methodology
Weather forecasts
We request weather estimates and a 10-day forecast from Open-Meteo. Temperature is shown in °C, wind in km/h, pressure in hPa, precipitation in mm and visibility in km. Forecasts describe model grid cells and can differ from conditions on your street.
European AQI, clearly labeled
Our air quality source is Open-Meteo's air quality API, using CAMS model forecasts. Global forecasts used for India have a coarser grid than a neighborhood monitoring station. We show modeled estimates, not local station measurements.
We display the European AQI supplied by this API. It is a different scale from Indian CPCB AQI and US AQI; the numbers should not be compared directly.
| Index | Category |
|---|---|
| 0–20 | Good |
| >20–40 | Fair |
| >40–60 | Moderate |
| >60–80 | Poor |
| >80–100 | Very Poor |
| >100 | Extremely Poor |
The overall index is the highest pollutant sub-index. The primary pollutant is selected using those sub-indices, not by comparing raw concentrations. Pollutant concentrations are shown in µg/m³. Missing values appear as a dash or an unavailable message, never as clean air.
Timestamps and updates
Weather and AQI estimate times are displayed in the city's local time. The retrieval time tells you when our server obtained the bundle; it is not the model publication time. We reuse retrieved data for up to 30 minutes and may temporarily show older data, up to six hours, while requesting an update. Upstream models update on their own schedules. We do not promise a new model forecast every 10 minutes.
If air quality is unavailable, weather can still be shown. Stale data is labeled. Longer-range forecasts carry more uncertainty, and rain probability describes a chance, not a guarantee or minute-by-minute timing.
Maps and decisions
Maps use OpenStreetMap and other labeled tile providers; precipitation radar is supplied through RainViewer where coverage is available. A map marker identifies the city location and does not imply that a sensor is installed there. For severe weather warnings and public-health decisions, check the appropriate official local services.
